An 8-minute walk away (about 650 meters) you will find the Santa Maria Novella Pharmaceutica. It traces its earliest roots to Florence, in 1221. In that same year the Dominican friars founded the convent of Santa Maria Novella and began to take care of the garden, among other things. From that same garden they began to develop centuries of experience in pharmacopoeia and natural preparations. Experience that in later years expanded to the universes of cosmetics, fragrances and wellness products. , now considered the oldest historical pharmacy in all of Europe, having been active without interruption for more than 4 centuries, as well as one of the oldest enterprises ever: for this reason, an Italian philatelic issue was dedicated to it in 2012.
