Welcome to B&B Relais del Duomo
Florence Cathedral is called Santa Maria del Fiore because the symbol of the city is a flower: the lily. The construction of this, which is among the largest cathedrals in Italy, was undertaken in the year 1296, replacing the old cathedral of Santa Reparata. The original design was by Arnolfo di Cambio, a sculptor and architect. With the death of the designer, work on the church slowed, only to resume with renewed vigor in 1334, when Giotto was appointed master builder. Giotto's contribution was particularly concentrated on the bell tower that stands next to the main facade of the Duomo. From the terrace of the cathedral you can enjoy a splendid panorama. One piece of advice we would like to give is to climb the bell tower and reach the terrace at the top. You will be left breathless! Piazza del Duomo Piazza del Duomo, the heart of Florence, is full of beautiful stores, famous and prestigious Cafes, Restaurants. The ideal place to breathe ancient and modern atmospheres of the Tuscan capital.
